Half Moon Bay deserves a city council that is transparent, fiscally responsible, and genuinely connected to its residents. Here are the seven priorities I'm committed to as your District 4 representative.
Seven priorities
Our city council must be accessible and accountable to all residents — not just those with the loudest voices. I will proactively engage with our diverse communities, provide clear and timely information, and encourage inclusive participation in council meetings and public forums. Transparency is at the core of good governance, and I pledge to make our processes more open and our decision-making more understandable to everyone.
Too often, council discussions are dominated by a few individuals, stifling productive dialogue and delaying progress. I will advocate for a council culture that values consensus and collaborative problem-solving, ensuring every voice is heard and respected. By focusing on finding common ground, we can achieve solutions that reflect the needs and aspirations of our entire community.
Fiscal responsibility is vital to maintaining trust and delivering quality services. I will champion greater oversight of city finances, promoting prudent budgeting, transparent reporting, and regular reviews of expenditures. My goal is to maximize the value of every taxpayer dollar and ensure investments benefit all residents.
Our city's growth and vitality — and solving our low-income housing crisis — depends on efficient and predictable permitting. I will work to simplify and expedite the building permit process, reducing unnecessary delays and making it easier for homeowners and local businesses to improve and invest in their properties while maintaining our community's character and environmental standards.
Half Moon Bay's unique coastal environment requires close coordination between the city and the California Coastal Commission. I will prioritize improving communication and cooperation to align city priorities with coastal protection goals, ensuring that development, conservation, and public access are balanced for the benefit of current and future generations.
Active community members are essential to a vibrant city. I am committed to making city council meetings and public comment sessions more enjoyable, accessible, and efficient by setting clear expectations and respectful guidelines for both council members and the public. I also intend to hold regular meetings with constituents in District 4, so we can collaboratively address concerns unique to our neighborhood.
Lengthy debates over process often stall progress and frustrate residents. I will advocate for reforms that streamline council deliberations, allowing us to focus on substance over procedure. By clarifying rules and expectations, we can make better decisions, faster — without sacrificing transparency or inclusivity.
